PORTLAND, Ore. — Sports rules cut both ways. If the construction of a rule is "unfair" for one team, it's equally fair or unfair to the opponent.
Case in point:
Did 2023 Oregon complain about refs or rules when they lost both shots at UW and fell short of the final four-team playoff? Nope.
When 2024 Georgia lost, did they complain about refs or rules? Nope.
When 2024 Alabama lost, did they complain about refs or rules? Nope.
Those teams stayed focused and kept working — Period, full stop.
Yet here's Ohio State all week, complaining about rules and refs and not being allowed to project their entitlement into points on the scoreboard — even pressuring the NCAA for a mid-season rule change.
If one rule is changing to cover for Ohio State consistently being out-coached in big games, why stop there? — Why not change the five other rules listed below?
